Professional Biography:
My interest in the mental health field began at a small campus clinic in Athens, Georgia. I was working as the student coordinator for the clinic and fell in love with mental healthcare and organizational development. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Psychology and minor in Human Development and Family Sciences. After working in an intensive outpatient treatment center as an admissions counselor, I returned to school and graduated with a MSW from the University of Wisconsin Madison to pursue a career as a mental health therapist.
I have had the pleasure of working in various professional settings, from private practices to community health agencies. I even worked on a horse farm providing vocational support.
As a therapist, I pride myself on being client-centered and empathetic. I am passionate about serving clientele with co-occurring mental health disorders and neurodiversity or intellectual disabilities. Mental healthcare should be accessible and effective, no matter how your brain functions best! I bring a trauma-informed lens to all my work, but also have knowledge in CBT, ACT, exposure therapy, TF-CBT, and DBT.
I was introduced to TIC Training Center team as a graduate student and began work as a research assistant while completing my degree. Through my work, I have grown to love learning about evidence-based practices in line with my values. I am excited to grow into my new role in course development, providing content that is engaging and digestible.
In my free time, you will most likely find me learning a new hobby. I adore my house plants, painting pet portraits, and picking up the guitar every now and then. But you don’t have to know me well to know that I am a true animal lover. Though I grew up around horses, I now spend most of my time with my therapy dog, Bailey. You can likely find us outside walking or learning new tricks!
About
Our mission is to spread the concepts and practices of TIC to as many people as possible - to get it off the therapist’s couch, if you will.
